37 Years Summed Up In One Quote

The two-year-old version of myself

Today, I woke up to greet the age of 37.

I know a lot of folks might be like “that’s still young” and others might say “girl, you’re getting up there” but truth be told I feel like I’m on the right path to becoming the best version of myself.

I’ve learned a lot thus far in my 30’s and for today’s birthday edition, I want to share the quote that is defining this chapter in my life.

Paulo Coelho is one of my FAVORITE authors and this quote I’m about to share truly sums up my life:

“Remember your dreams and fight for them. You must know what you want from life. There is just one thing that makes your dream become impossible: the fear of failure”.

There have been times in my life where I’ve forgotten my own dreams to help other people build theirs. I was fighting more for them than I was for myself. There were also times where I wasn’t sure what I wanted out of life but I knew that I didn’t want to give up. Lastly, although life had dealt moments where I failed I knew I didn’t want the label of a “failure” attached to me.

My mother shared a story on her Facebook page about how I “entered this world quietly, looking around at my environment”. She’s absolutely right. I have spent my life thus far, quiet analyzing, and taking into account my environment. What I have learned thus far in my 37 years is that it’s okay to move quietly as long as I am dreaming my own dreams, knowing what I want out of life, and making my dreams become my reality.

So, cheers to 37. I can’t wait to see myself dream bigger dreams and fight for them & myself daily!
